Ecofont is a new typeface, designed by SPRANQ in the Netherlands, available for free download. The designers report that after being inspired by swiss cheese, they conducted research into how much of a letter could be removed, and what was the best shape for the removed areas, while maintaining legibility. It uses up to 20% less ink or toner than a similarly sized font. Brilliant.
